Photography book / archival rephotography project, 2015

2015 — London Time Capsule

London Time Capsule is a photographic book project exploring London as a living archive. Using historical photographs as points of departure, I returned to some of the city’s emblematic sites and photographed them again in 2015, attempting to recover the original photographer’s viewpoint wherever possible.

The project is less about the standalone image than about the act of return: standing where another photographer once stood, looking again, and recording what time has altered, erased or preserved. Through this dialogue between archival image and contemporary rephotograph, the work reflects on memory, urban transformation and the resilience of London as a city continually rewritten by history.

Conceived as a visual time capsule, the project asks how photography holds time — not only by preserving what has disappeared, but by making visible the layers of change that still inhabit the present.
